Quick guidance to help members understand common workplace situations. For advice about your own circumstances, use the branch case app.
I’ve been invited to a meeting. What should I do?
Read the invitation carefully, note the date and purpose, keep the email or letter, and use the branch case app promptly. Include the meeting date and any papers you have received.
Can I take a union rep to a formal meeting?
Representation rights depend on the type of meeting and process. If you have been invited to a disciplinary, grievance, attendance, capability or other formal meeting, submit the invitation through the case app so the branch can advise you.
I have a workload concern. Where do I start?
Keep a clear record of the work being required, relevant deadlines and the impact on your contracted duties. Raise immediate concerns appropriately and contact the branch through the case app if the issue cannot be resolved.
I need a reasonable adjustment.
Keep a record of the adjustment requested and any response. Relevant workplace policies and occupational-health advice may be important. The branch can support members where an adjustment request is disputed or not implemented.
Where can I get general employment-rights information?
